The Challenge
To Construct 750mm & 600mm piles in headrooms of 3.5-6.5m to depths of 23m. One of the key challenge has been lowering the rig into the basement through a constrained opening of 5.5m × 3m, with a weight limit of 20t. This was successfully achieved using a contract lift team provided by the client.
The Solution
All of the these works are being carried out using our bespoke MP4001 rig, which provides a programme benefit for the client as pile construction can take place prior to a full demolition of the structure, if required. The MP4000 series rigs have the ability to install piles upto 1050mm to depths of 40m and can work within head heights of 3.5m. Under unrestricted conditions, these piles would typically be installed using larger rotary or CFA rigs.
